Pathways Through
Grief & Hope
Scripture is not a quick fix for sorrow; it is a companion that walks with you.
Gentle, unhurried pastoral guidance. You are not alone. God meets us in the valley, not after we climb out.
Stages of the Journey
There is no right way to grieve. These are not steps to master, but places where God meets us.
Lament
The psalms give us language for our pain. Crying out is not faithlessness; it is faith reaching for God in the dark.
Psalm 13Silence
Job's friends sat with him seven days and nights without speaking. Sometimes presence is the only minister needed.
Job 2:13Comfort
God comforts us so we can comfort others. Our scars become a ministry we never asked for but are entrusted with.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4Remembrance
There is a time to mourn. Grief honors love. Remembrance marks what was precious and declares it still matters.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-4Hope
Not a denial of grief, but an anchor beyond it. The resurrection means death does not have the final word.
Revelation 21:4"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 (ESV)
Scriptures for the Brokenhearted
These words have held generations of mourners. Let them hold you too.
"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."
Psalm 34:18 (ESV)"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
Matthew 5:4 (ESV)"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God."
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
Psalm 147:3 (ESV)"For I am sure that neither death nor life... will be able to separate us from the love of God."
Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)"Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)A Liturgy of Lament
A gentle guided prayer for the heavy-hearted. Take your time.
Breathe in slowly... God is here.
Let each breath be a prayer. You are held.
Speak, Lord …
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul."
Psalm 23:1-3
A prayer for the weary
Lord, you know the sorrow I carry. It is heavy, and some days I cannot find words. Meet me in the silence. Sit with me as Job's friends sat, not to explain, but to be present. I do not ask for answers. I ask for You.
Rest in His presence
Take a slow breath. Name your loss before God, not because He does not know, but because naming it places it in His hands. He is near. He has not turned away. You are seen. You are loved. You are held.
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." Psalm 23:4 (ESV)
You do not have to walk this road alone
